Fight Junk not Punk!!! Anti-Addiction Adressment.

I'm not much of one to air too much of my dirty laundry to public strangers but would like to make a public statement on addiction. A loved one came into my life a while back who suffered from heroin addiction. The emotional and spiritual damage that was done to surrounding parties involved is beyond mention. Heroin, narcotics and addiction hurts everybody, not just the addict. I encourage friends, lovers and families of addicts to make it to Nar-Anon meetings to at least try and understand the addict and the situation. It is encouraged to go for support and to become better equipped at making healthier boundaries and choices. Drugs like heroin can permanently ruin human potential, crush spirits and permanently damage or ruin friendships and relationships. There are many forms of addiction: alcohol, drugs, food, sex, porn, shopping…the list goes on but they all are the same in that they can cause unnecessary pain and damage to humanity.

The only way I was able to survive and recover from the traumatic experience of having an addict in my life was by my strong base support group of others who truly loved me,
art and music therapy......
and about 250 milligrams of this song everyday..

Good luck and may peace be with you all.

Choose compassion, life & growth instead of drugs. Heal through the arts.

This is shared with you in case you know someone going through addiction.

An open letter from a drug addict

I am a drug user. I need help.
Don’t solve my problems for me. This only makes me lose respect for you.
Don’t lecture, moralize, scold, blame, or argue, whether I’m loaded or sober. It may make you feel better, but it will make the situation worse.
Don’t accept my promises. The nature of my illness prevents me from keeping them, even though I mean them at the time. Promises are only my way of postponing pain. Don’t keep switching agreements; if an agreement is made, stick to it.
Don’t lose your temper with me. It will destroy you and any possibility of helping me.
Don't allow your anxiety for me to make you do what I should do for myself.
Don’t cover up or try to spare me the consequences of my using. It may reduce the crisis, but it will make my illness worse.
Above all, don’t run away from reality as I do. Drug dependence, my illness, gets worse as my using continues. Start now to learn, to understand, to plan for recovery. Find NAR-ANON, whose groups exist to help the families of drug abusers.
I need help — from a doctor, a psychologist, a counselor, from an addict who found recovery in NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS, and from God.
